radiant with love: A Camp Hope Experience

Last year was my first time serving at Camp Hope in a

number of years. It was a wonderful experience serving the

children everyday in the kitchen. When it came time to decide if God wanted me to use my gifts to serve in the kitchen this year I couldn’t wait! It was my twins first year attending. I decided to serve the whole week so I was present to them and to see how the Lord would work in their lives throughout the week.

As I reflected on the week, there were numerous examples of the Lord moving in the lives of the campers. A few of the more profound examples included Wednesday night’s Adoration and the Friday night prayer meeting.

Adoration is always so beautiful at Camp. I am in awe of how the children just embrace Jesus’ presence this night. They sit on the altar; their faces filled with joy to be so close to Him. The most beautiful moment was when the young campers put their arms around each other to pray or comfort their friends. What

love these young people express for each other! Most of their

faces were moist with tears during this time. This was a witness of how the Lord was speaking, comforting or healing each of those present.

I am in awe of how the children just embrace Jesus’ presence this night. They sit on the altar; their faces filled with joy to be so close to Him.

We ended camp with our Friday night prayer meeting. This was a spirit filled event where the campers praised the Lord with their whole hearts and had the opportunity to share what the Lord had done in their lives throughout the week. From the youngest camper to the oldest they came up and testified how faithful Jesus was to those who opened their hearts to Him. I am always amazed and encouraged as to what they share and how their friends encourage them.

Camp Hope is a special place to be and serve. The days may be long, busy, (sometimes muddy) but each one is filled with

smiles, laughter and most of all, radiates God’s love.
